Audio platform Soundcloud has launched its new streaming service Soundcloud Go in the UK and Ireland today.
Soundcloud Go, which was previously launched in the US in March, will set users back €9.99 a month, and has a number of the same features as Spotify Premium; namely the ability to listen offline and no ads.
Speaking of ads, from today current users of Soundcloud may notice the addition of advertising in the existing free version of the streaming service. While Soundcloud previously shied away from advertising – which certainly helped it accrue a base of 175 million monthly listeners, that’s 75 million more than Spotify – this latest move should help it increase revenue and expand its 125 million track list.
