WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Be honest about the fact that there are bad things out in the cyber world.
Try to form the habits of the child at an early stage so they understand and accept that there are limits and boundaries on screen time.
Engage with the child – agree times when the children can have access online.
Lead by example and reduce your own smart device usage. Children will try to copy their parent’s habits.
Encourage other interests and social activities – introduce them to the “gift of boredom.” Children are resourceful and they will find other things to do quickly.
Learn how to use parental controls – many Internet providers offer some kinds of parental control for your broadband connection. You can also add parental controls such as iKydz to your existing Internet connection.
