Finding the TV and broadband plan that best suits your needs can be a bit of a head scratcher. This is a product that is used by the whole household so you have to consider the needs of your family/housemates as well as yourself when choosing an operator and particular plan.
Luckily, at Carphone Warehouse we’re here to help, so we’ve broken down the main criteria you need to consider, to make a more informed decision, when choosing a package.
1. Do I need a landline?
Most broadband and TV packages also come with a landline option included. However, as we all know, the use of landlines has greatly diminished over the last 10 years. Both eir
offer stand-alone packages where you don’t have to pay for a landline, which will certainly help you save some money on the long term.
2. What broadband speeds do I need?
This will be determined by how the broadband is used by everyone in your home. Virgin Media
currently offer a speed of up to 360mb. This is perfect for a household that has multiple users online at any time, and those who like to download movies and boxsets quickly.
all offer broadband with speeds of up to 100mb,depending on your location. This is still very fast and is perfect for streaming, web browsing and downloading.
3. Do I need an unlimited broadband package?
In a word, yes. Vodafone
only offer unlimited packages. Sky
and Virgin Media
do offer limited packages, but, the savings are minimal. Unless, you use your broadband very little each day, and very rarely download or stream boxsets/movies, then you should go for the unlimited package; this offers peace of mind so you don’t need to worry about reaching your limit and incurring out of bundle rates.
4. What TV package should I buy?
Again, you need to look at what channels/TV shows are watched in your home. For example, one of the most popular TV shows at the moment, Game of Thrones,
is exclusive to Sky Atlantic on Sky TV.
You may also want to look at add ons such as sport and movie channels. Lots of the major sporting events are exclusive to Sky Sports and BT Sports so if you’re a football fan and want to watch at home, this is something you will need to take into consideration. There are always great promo offers to add these channels to your package, so check in store to see what the current offers are.
5. How can I save money by adding mobile to my TV and broadband account?
Virgin Media, Vodafone and er all offer discounts on mobile phone plans if you link them to your TV and broadband account.
Still not sure what TV and broadband supplier to go with? Why not pop into your local store and we can talk you through our current deals? You can also avail of a €50 voucher to spend in store at Carphone Warehouse when you sign up to any broadband and TV bundle.
