Heading to Electric Picnic this weekend? Check out these handy festival apps to help to stay up-to-date and connected.

Don’t get lost

Inevitably, at a large festival – like Electric Picnic or Primavera Sound in Barcelona – you will get lost; but if you have a good navigation app, like Google Maps or Co-Pilot, you could save yourself a lot of hardship and stress during what is supposed to be your relaxation time.

Similarly, these apps can make it a whole lot easier to navigate yourself home after a long day of dancing if you're not planning on camping out for the weekend. Both of these apps are available for iOS and Android.

Electric Picnic appStay in the know

Considering the amount of acts performing in Stradbally this weekend there's bound to be a clash between some of your favourites. Be prepared by downloading the official Electric Picnic app, checking the stage times and planning your festival down to the minute. There’s also a festival map on there for you to find your way back to your campsite at the end of the night.

Get it now on the App Store or on Google Play

WaterIn appStay hydrated

While the weather forecast isn’t looking great for this weekend, there is always a chance of the sun coming out at an Irish festival, and if you’re sitting out in the sun for a significant amount of time and enjoying a few beers at the same time, you’re in danger of becoming seriously dehydrated.

Luckily, there’s now an app to remind you to stay hydrated. WaterIn allows you to track exactly how much water you should be drinking, and if you’re off track, it will remind you. It’s really that simple, but unfortunately many people forget to stay appropriately hydrated at festivals.

Find it on both the App Store and Google Play.

Camera 51 appStay snap happy

Of course you’ll want to capture the fun you have with friends and take photos of any celebs you spot rocking out at the festival, but make sure those photos are perfect with this handy little app.

Camera 51 scans what you’re trying to snap, and guides you on how to properly capture what’s on your screen, so no more thumbs covering the lens or blurry group shots. Check out this video to ensure there’s no more cut off heads!

Find it on the App Store and Google Play.

Periscope appBe there without even being there!

Have you ever had a friend call you from a concert to show off how great a night they’re having? Well the new age is here. You can now stream live feeds to Twitter via apps like Periscope and Meerkat.

These apps really are changing how we share media, and have been a massive tech talking point over the last 12 months.
